It’s been a while since I posted anything on this blog, but since I’m at home recovering from spinal surgery and can’t play the pipes quite yet, I thought I’d take a stroll back to one of my favorite piobaireachd performances. “Lament for the Viscount of Dundee,” one of the most lyrical piobs I know, got added to my repertoire because my wife’s ancestors are from Dundee. I actually picked the tune from the Kilberry manuscript before ever having heard it. Luckily, I really liked it right off the bat, which always gives one more incentive to do the hard work of memorization than if learning a required tune that you don’t really like much. Anyway, you can see Andrew Wright, legendary authority on piobaireachd, judging my performance (it appears he might be sleeping at certain points, but he assures us he’s not). Enjoy!
